Aníbal Pereira dos Reis (São Joaquim da Barra, 9 de março de 1924 — 30 de maio de 1991) foi padre católico, teólogo e pastor batista. De personalidade polêmica, e devido à sua formação como sacerdote católico e posterior adesão ao protestantismo, tem sido aclamado como herói para evangélicos conservadores[carece de fontes?], herege e apóstata [carece de fontes?] para católicos e radical para evangélicos mais ecumênicos.

Aníbal Pereira dos Reis nasceu no interior de São Paulo, filho de Manuel Pereira dos Reis e Emília Basso Reis e foi criado naquela cidade. Foi ordenado em 1949 em Montes Claros, Minas Gerais, após ter feito estudos eclesiásticos na Faculdade Teológica da Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo.

Em Montes Claros foi professor de literatura e de matemática em um colégio católico e dirigiu obras sociais. Também fundou o jornal A Tribuna do Norte.

Em 1952 foi transferido para o Recife onde prosseguiu com trabalhos sociais e onde também fez um curso de neuro-psiquiatria. Foi também pároco em Guaratinguetá e Orlândia.

Em 1961 começou a duvidar de doutrinas católicas e afastou-se do catolicismo romano. Em 30 de maio de 1965 fez sua profissão de fé em uma Igreja Batista e foi baptizado. Na década de 1970, foi ordenado pastor baptista e saiu como pregador itinerante.

Foi também Membro da Academia Evangélica de Letras, da Associação Brasileira de Cultura e da União Brasileira de Escritores.

Escreveu aproximadamente 40 livros, nos quais criticava principalmente o ecumenismo e o catolicismo.

De personalidade resoluta, Reis era um fervoroso crítico de sua antiga religião, chegando a dedicar cerca de 85% de seus escritos a refutar as doutrinas católicas. Não seria surpresa nenhuma que seus escritos e atitudes mais de uma vez, se transformassem em polêmicas.

Um dos episódios mais conhecidos foi a carta do cardeal Agnelo Rossi a Dom Paulo Evaristo Arns, segundo a qual Aníbal era reconhecido pelos seus desafetos como um dos sacerdotes mais cultos do Brasil, e na qual se discute - a mando do próprio Papa - quais seriam as melhores estratégias de silenciá-lo, uma vez que o líder máximo católico estaria apreensivo com a grande repercussão das mensagens de Aníbal contra o ecumenismo. A carta foi publicada no periódico oficial da Convenção Batista Brasileira, O Jornal Batista de 19 de Janeiro de 1972. Em 7 de fevereiro do mesmo ano, o Cardeal Rossi enviou uma carta alegando que a carta sobre Aníbal fora forjada, citando como argumentos que a carta não era escrita a mão, mas datilografada, o nome da Congregação no cabeçalho da folha estava errado, o estilo da assinatura era anterior à sua condição de cardeal e prefeito, o timbre usado na folha era o de Paulo VI e não o da congregação de Rossi e a falta do protocolo, sem o qual, segundo ele, tal carta não poderia ser expedida para São Paulo (embora tenha-se registros de que foi autenticada: "Firma reconhecida no Cartório do 1º Ofício de Notas - São Paulo e autenticada no 25º Cartório de Notas - Tabelião Milani em 15/12/71") eram provas de que a carta fora forjada. Dom Estêvão Bettencourt OSB também escreveu um artigo sobre isso.[1] Reconhecendo a legitimidade do direito de resposta do Cardeal, em 5 de março de 1972, O Jornal Batista o publicou com mesmo destaque dado à matéria original.

Em 19 de março de 1972, O Jornal Batista volta ao assunto, publicando a tréplica de Reis ao direito de resposta de Rossi. Na tréplica, Reis, com seu conhecimento de causa dos trâmites internos da burocracia católica, procurava refutar ponto a ponto os argumentos citados como provas de falsificação. Enfatizava ainda que a carta enviada com o direito de resposta, ela própria não dispunha de protocolo nem estava assinada conforme os cargos de Rossi.[2]

Suas argumentações contrárias ao ecumenismo entre católicos e evangélicos são muito respeitadas entre os batistas e protestantes conservadores, entre os quais seus livros possuem grande aceitação.

Por outro lado, este posicionamento lhe valeu também a nomeação de radical por alguns setores ecumênicos do protestantismo. Um episódio que ilustra isso foi quando estava comprando livros em São Paulo e foi chamado de "radical". No periódico Jornal Presbiteriano Bíblico Fundamentalista de Maio de 1985, pg. 7, Aníbal Reis defende-se:

Radical, que é um vocábulo relacionado com a raiz, quer dizer fundamental, e secundariamente significa inflexível. Neste último sentido é hoje de uso mais amplo no linguajar cotidiano. Radical ou inflexível é a pessoa que não cede ou não é maleável. Nesta acepção é muitas vezes o termo tomado de um sentido acentuadamente pejorativo ou depreciativo. Os acomodados, os quebra-luzes, os quarto-minguantes, os basbaques, os aproveitadores picham as pessoas sérias com o apodo: É radical.[3]

O Escriba Valdemir Mota de Menezes divulga o fato do "santo" católico do Brasil, padre Anchieta ter sido um assassino, que matou um cristão usado pelo Espírito Santo chamado Jean Jacques Baullés. Hoje vários monumentos no nosso país tem o nome deste carrasco, filho do Diabo.

PERHAPS there are no stories that stick by us so long as those which we hear in our childhood, those tales which are told us by our fathers, and in our nurseries. It is a sad reflection that too many of these stories are idle and vain, so that our minds in early infancy are tinctured with fables, and inoculated with strange and lying narratives.
Among the early Christians and the old believers in the far-off times, nursery tales were far different from what they are now, and the stories with which their children were amused were of a far different class from those which fascinated us in the days of our childhood. No doubt Abraham would talk to young children about the flood, and tell them how the waters overspread the earth, and how Noah alone was saved in the ark. The ancient Israelites, when they dwelt in their own land, would all of them tell their children about the Red Sea, and the plagues which God wrought in Egypt when He brought His people out of the house of bondage.

Jimmy Lee Swaggart was born March 15, 1935, in Ferriday, Louisiana. Jimmy Swaggart Ministries has long been known for its anointed music. Reverend Swaggart has recorded over 50 Gospel Albums, with approximately 15 million Recordings sold worldwide. His first album, Some Golden Daybreak, was made primarily to have a record he could give people at his early revivals. Recognizing his gift, Frances Swaggart began encouraging him to contact radio stations. As Jimmy Swaggart's songs began to be aired on radio, the public response was overwhelming. In the spring of 1958 Sam Philips (the producer who discovered Elvis Presley) had sent for the small town, piano-playing, preacher to come to Memphis. He wanted to sign Jimmy Swaggart as the first Gospel artist on the Sun Record Label. However, with a heart to minister the Gospel, the young Swaggart turned him down.

In 1974 Jimmy Swaggart was voted Favorite Gospel Music Artist for "Singing News". In 1977 "Record World" Magazine honored him as Male Vocalist of the Year. In that same year Jimmy was a Dove Award finalist in three categories: Male Vocalist of the Year, TV Program of the Year, and Instrumentalist of the Year. Again in 1978 Jimmy Swaggart became a Dove Finalist as Instrumentalist of the Year, and in 1980 a Dove Award finalist in four Categories: Children's Album of the Year for "Color Me a Story," Instrumentalist of the Year, Year's best Traditional Album for "Homeward Bound," and Best Gospel Album of the Year for "Worship." The prestigious Grammy Awards nominated Jimmy's "Live from Nashville" for Best Album in 1976, and again in 1980, Jimmy's "Worship" album became a Grammy finalist.

Reverend Jimmy Swaggart is the author of several Christian works offered through his ministry as well as the author of the Expositor's Study Bible. Swaggart's beautiful wife, Frances, is a crucial part of the day to day functioning of the ministry and hosts the popular SonLife Radio program, Frances and Friends.










Reverend Jimmy Swaggart has three grandchildren, Jennifer, Gabriel and Matthew Swaggart. His grandson Gabriel and wife Jill, head Crossfire Youth Ministries an integral and vibrant youth outreach of Family Worship Center. Pastor Gabriel and Jill have two young daughters , Samantha, and Abby. Rev Swaggart's grandson Matthew is also active in the ministry. He is married to JoAnna Swaggart and has a son, Ryder-Presley Swaggart.

Family is important to Reverend Swaggart and he enjoys and cherishes the time he spends with them.
